I am all for a bit of melancholia, but somewhere the music has to stir an emotional response that leads somehow to a sense of euphoria.

This is where this fourth outing from this Scottish four-piece falls somewhat flat.

They should tick my boxes, walls of My Bloody Valentine wailing rhythm guitars and a sense of new wave post punk, however it doesn’t excite in the way Joy Division or even fellow Scots Telstar Ponies did.

It’s not that TTS lack melody, it’s just rhythmically this rarely gets out of second gear and is just too depressing even for me – it’s like Editors on tranquilisers. It is easy to see why Nobody Wants to be here.
