THEY have opened for The Eagles, Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban.

Now, JD & The Straight Shot, a New York four-piece “steeped in the quiet fire of Americana with distinctive elements of the blues and rustic New Orleans flavoured roots music”will play Southampton Brook on July 23.

It is part of their first European tour that also takes in Germany, Norway and Denmark.

The band is led by front man, singersongwriter Jim Dolan – who by day is executive chairman of Madison Square Garden.

Here he oversees the legendary New York venue alongside the New York Knicks and Rangers, as well as being CEO of Cablevision Systems Corporation.

JD & The Straight Shot began as a loosely knit collective 15 years ago.

Now, the acoustic vocal group includes guitarist Marc Copely (Rosanne Cash, McCrary Sisters, Billy Squier), guitarist Aidan Dolan; Kentucky-born bassist Byron House (Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris) and violinist Erin Slaver (Rod Stewart, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride), all of who contribute to songwriting.

Last year they released their new album, Where I’ve Been and the single Hard To Find was featured in the critically acclaimed American comedy drama film, St Vincent, starring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy.
