IT WAS a big dance party when Foxes came to Bournemouth.

There were audience members young and old moving to the same music as the Southampton-born popstar took to the mall, intimate stage in front of a few hundred people.

She's sweet and likeable, but Foxes packs a punch with her strong singing voice.

With her short bobbed hair, black crop top and trousers, with a white tassel waistcoat, it felt like, true to any good singer, the evening was all about the music, with no gimmicky costumes or wacky stage props.

There were also no backing dancers or singers and she was joined only by a drummer, keyboard player and rather quaintly, a musician playing double bass.

She opened the night with recent hit Body Talk followed by Holding Onto Heaven, which both went down a storm.

This was followed by Youth, Amazing, Glorious and Better Love, which are all tracks, I hadn't realised that she had recorded, but many of which made me draw a comparison of her voice to the style of Paloma Faith.

A particular personal highlight was her cover of Justin Bieber's hugely popular track, Sorry, which she slowed down and truly sounded really beautiful, despite me not liking the original.

Another highlight was Foxes coming back for the encore to sing a very bouncy, fun performance of Let Go For Tonight, which had lots of audience members waving their arms and appearing to have a really fun time by taking the words of the song quite literally.

It was great to see a music artist not taking themselves too seriously and having a fun time on stage.

I hope her success continues to increase and she plays the BIC one day, so I can think back to when I saw her on the small stage at last night's gig.
