You Me At Six, 02 Guildhall Southampton
Fans have been waiting five years for the British rock band to return to Southampton, and they didn't disappoint at an incredible gig.
Their set list mostly included songs from their previous two albums, 2011’s Sinners Never Sleep, and 2014’s Cavalier Youth.
Right from the first song there was an energetic vibe both from the band and audience, as they played favourites such as Bite My Tongue. A song which stood out was Reckless, the band encouraged fans to join in with singing the repetitive chorus. As the audience sang their lyrics back to them, a smile appeared across singer Josh Franceschi’s face, and you could tell that he truly loves performing live to his fans.
The sold out date was attended by long-term fans who have been following the band for years to newer ones who had recently discovered the band. They catered for everyone there, playing their major hits which newer fans would recognise like Lived A Lie, and throwbacks for older fans to enjoy such as Underdog.
As You Me At Six left the stage, enthusiastic fans chanted the band’s name until they came back for a three song encore. The set ended with recent single Night People, which will appear on their upcoming album. The single is heavier, hinting at the band’s latest direction. It was the perfect way to end their set, as it showed a new start for fans to be excited about.
