IT was an intimate performance for fans of Daniel Merriweather at The Soul Cellar.
Less than 200 people packed the venue to see the acoustic set by the singer who is on the verge of releasing his latest album Love and War.
Casually strolling onto the stage, Daniel introduced his guitar-playing friend James, who, along with Daniel’s whistling, would provide all the backing music for the evening.
The gig, which was organised by Wave 105, was kicked off by Daniel performing the song Cigarettes from his latest album.
The audience loved it and the acoustic performance by the 27-year-old was perfectly suited to the cosiness of the venue.
He then played a rousing rendition of the hit song Change which the crowd lapped up before singing Impossible and Red to the cheering fans.
The Australian singer entered into some banter with the audience between songs and of course no gig would be complete without him singing the anthemic Stop Me which went down a storm.
The only downside to the gig was that he only stayed on stage for 25 minutes singing a total of five songs which left fans wanting just that little bit more.
And with no encore you couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed that he didn’t belt out a few more songs from his new album.
