Lloyd Daniels in Southampton

REJOICE. The end is in sight. And what better way to start the final week of X Factor than with the sacking of Welsh boy Lloyd Daniels.

People – specifically women – seem to think he’s cute and smiley.

And that’s great, but the main problem I have with Lloyd is that he can’t actually sing. This was proved when he took to the stage at Oceana on Friday night.

When a member of his entourage eventually forced Lloyd into performing, he adopted his usual stance as the most pitiable person on the face of the planet. His eyes went all big, his grin went all nervous and he started to make that strange noise he does when he sings.

Lloyd performed four songs, each of which was substantially worse than the last. For the duration of his set, he resorted to pointing the microphone towards the audience whenever there was a note he knew he couldn’t sing. Which, funnily enough, ended up being most of them. That said, the crowd loved Lloyd and his sheepish naivety.

They rushed to the front, thrust their cameras and phones into his face and did their best to make enough noise to drown out his vocals – for which I was thankful.

Okay, so Lloyd looks the part, but when trying to establish yourself as a credible singing artist, that’s not good enough. But this is something Lloyd has heard time and time again.

Throughout his performances on X Factor he has been told he has the look but not the talent. So, to borrow the words of the great Louis Walsh – Lloyd, I liked everything...

except the singing.
