It’s been nearly three years in the making but, after originally planning a 2007 release, The Betrayed has finally hit the shelves.
Exhaustion and unhappiness at their studio work delayed the original release date, and the band went on to scrap the material produced by John Feldmann in favour of new tracks they wrote and produced themselves.
The departure of drummer Ilan Rubin to join Nine Inch Nails was also a major factor in the delay.
Front man Ian Watkins said he wanted a nastier and darker record than previous releases which had been slammed as too Americanised by some disillusioned fans.
He hit the nail square on the head. Similar to the recent 30 Seconds From Mars release this has opened up a can of gloom and glugged all the contents before you can say teenage angst.
It will please those who have pined for a return to their nu-metal roots but there are also enough tracks to satisfy those who preferred the popped-out classics such as Last Summer.
The Pontypridd boys have done well with this release and continue to hold their name in good stead.
