The Concorde Factor Finalists 2010 showcased the best of local talent on Friday night at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club. The stars of the show had battled it out since March to make the finals.
Sweet-voiced Shannon Chilvers, aged just 15, not only had to start the night off but had to perform through technical difficulties which she did professionally, carrying on with her set beautifully.
She also played acoustic guitar, lending herself to an acoustic Taylor Swift style. Her last song was a brilliant duet of Pokerface with joint winner Lucy Machin.
Next to the stage was Lucy Machin, also aged 15. Sounding remarkably like Rachel Berry from Glee she belted out two more tracks including her finishing track Don’t Rain on My Parade.
She also performed a passionate cover of Alicia Keyes’ Empire State of Mind.
You could clearly see why her entry into the final of the competition sent the scores into turmoil and the judges couldn’t decide on just one winner.
Strong voiced singers Katie Ridd and Emma Francis were cheered by fans throughout. Katie was even joined on stage by her sister, who played piano for her Beyoncé mix.
Lastly was Lauren Oakley who brought to mind a 1950’s stage with a grand piano and a red sequin dress. She finished the night with I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.
It was a fantastic final, with brilliant talent and I left feeling, if only I could sing, instead of the neighbours thinking I strangled the cat.
