Beckham surprises gran and pals

David Beckham caused a stir when he popped in to visit his grandmother at her care home.

The star posted a picture of himself on Facebook with Peggy West and her friends and wrote: "Great to be back in London. Paid a surprise visit to see my gran."

The 37-year-old has also been enjoying some traditional British grub during his trip home, taking his mum Sandra to enjoy some pie and mash.

He shared a snap of he and his mother tucking in and said: "There is nothing better."

Despite having access to the world's top eateries, the dad-of-four is famously a huge fan of pie, mash and jellied eels.

After jetting back to the UK for Christmas, he visited Tony's Pie And Mash shop in Waltham Abbey, Essex for a hefty portion of pie with all the trimmings.
