A NEW play based on a local real-life tragedy will be premiered on the Isle of Wight tomorrow.
My Boy is a new one-act play written by Matthew Dodge and Andrew Porter, both from Ventnor on the Island. It will be performed by Origins Theatre at The Bargeman’s Rest in Newport tomorrow and Thursday, February 5.
Kevin Wilson of Origins Theatre said: “My Boy follows the story of a man who goes for a pint and meets a young man who looks exactly like his son, who had died several years ago in a road accident.”
The drama will reflect the real life experiences of Matthew Dodge, the father of Sean Bilton who died with his best friend Liam Dunn in a crash at Blackwater in 2003.
He said: “Sean was only 17 when he died and when his wake was held at The Bargeman’s Rest it was packed to the rafters.”
