BROWNIES and Guides from across Hampshire have been honing their singing and acting skills as they prepare to showcase their talent at Southampton Guildhall.

In a few weeks’ time the youngsters from Southampton, Winchester, Romsey, Totton and the New Forest will be treading the boards for their performance of Show Time.

Stepping up their performance while using the Oasis school gym to replicate the 02 Guildhall stage, the 140 girls took charge of their brand new outfits and costumes at the latest all-day rehearsal before learning how to apply their characters’ make-up.

Debbie Wyatt, chief of wardrobe and 1st Peartree Brown Owl, said: “They are going to perform an amazing show.

“The sewing team are well on the way to completing 540 costumes, taken from 290 metres of linen and cloth which we have adorned with over one mile of sequins and sparkles, so far.

“Giving young people the chance to tread the boards of a professional venue, the cast of Show Time take to the 1,700-seat venue from April 10 for a four-day run and will experience what every professional feels as they walk out into the spotlight.”
