THE 70s are alive and kicking in Hampshire as many of the chart-topping artists of the era head to an Eastleigh venue.

The world’s most famous pop family of the decade, The Osmonds, triggered a wave of hysteria when they toured the UK, which soon became known as Osmondmania.

Now three members of pop’s royal family, Merrill, Jimmy and Jay, are to appear at the Concorde Club on September 27.

It is a major coup for the Stoneham Lane club, being one of just a few dates in The Osmonds’ UK tour.

They will be showcasing those classic Osmonds hits, including Love Me For A Reason, Crazy Horses, Let Me In, Goin Home, The Proud One, I Can’t Stop, One Bad Apple, Down By The Lazy River and Having A Party.

Concorde’s Jamie Mathieson said: “We are privileged to welcome the iconic pop group The Osmonds to the Concorde.

“It will be a great night for nostalgia and tickets are already flying off the shelf.”

Rollermania will be sweeping the floor at the Concorde on November 20 with Les McKeown’s Legendary Bay City Rollers.

In their heyday the 70s teen idols, with multi-million record sales, were as big as The Beatles.

Another big headliner, singer- songwriter Leo Sayer, makes his Concorde debut on October 2.

In the 70s he stormed the charts with a string of hits, including One Man Band and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing and was rarely off our TV screens.

The former members of Bucks Fizz, who became global household names when Making Your Mind Up won Eurovision, stop off at Eastleigh on April 17.

The Concorde’s other newly announced acts from across the decades include G4, the 2004 X Factor finalists. On April 19 they visit The Concorde as part of their 10th anniversary reunion tour.

On April 23 the music of Karen Carpenter and The Carpenters will be celebrated in a spectacular We Have Only Just Begun show.

Kyle Eastwood, son of Hollywood superstar Clint, returns on May 1 with his own unique brand of smooth jazz.

R&B veteran Georgie Fame, whose links with The Concorde stretch back to the 60s, will on May 8 be celebrating the 50th anniversary of his chart-topping tune Yeh Yeh.

Shakatak, who had a string of 80s hits, check into the Concorde on May 15, and the south’s biggest tribute pop salute, Phoneyfest, is on May 22-25.

Jazz star and BBC radio host Clare Teal will be celebrating the life of Doris Day with her 16-piece Hollywood orchestra on June 3.

Drifters legend Roy G Hemmings will on June 26 be headlining a theatre show celebrating 50 years of Motown.

One of Britain’s most popular singers and songwriters, Paul Carrack, makes a Concorde comeback on July 17, while American soul legends The Stylistics return on November 5.
