AN award-winning theatre company is bringing a new laughter-filled production to Winchester.

LipService returns to the Theatre Royal with The Picture of Doreen Gray – which has been billed perfect for a girls’ night out.

Celebrity presenter Doreen Gray has it all, from a drive-time radio show and high ratings on a lifestyle programme, but when she hits 50 her face no longer fits the bill.

At a school reunion she stumbles across a youthful self-portrait and makes a dark and dreadful pact with the picture.

Local community actors will feature in the performances as Doreen’s old school friends.

The show is a modern twist on Oscar Wilde’s philosophical novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, and marks LipService’s 30th anniversary.

The duo, Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding, have been writing and performing together since 1985 with 18 original comedies to their names.

They have also had their own comedy slot on BBC Radio Four, scooped several awards and now tour across the globe.

  • The Picture of Doreen Gray is at Theatre Royal on April 16-17 at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £16. For more information or to book call the box office on 01962 840440 or go online at theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk.
