A SOUTHAMPTON children’s theatre company has been nominated for a national award.

The nominees for the prestigious What’s On 4 2015 Junior Awards have been announced – and Big Mouth Theatre is among them.

This exciting awards programme is now in its ninth year and celebrates the best activities, classes, people and places throughout the country as nominated and voted for by the experts – parents, carers and parents-to-be.

Big Mouth Theatre has been short-listed in the Best Local Activity for children aged 5-12 category and has now now got through to the national voting stage.

The local acting school, mentored by the Prince’s Trust, provides after school drama clubs for many schools throughout Southampton and The New Forest.

Academy, Big Mouth’s Saturday performance project based at Hounsdown School drama studios, is proving very popular with the budding stars of the south, as they perform Alice in Wonderland at Hanger Farm Arts Centre this summer, as part of its 150th Anniversary celebrations.

Holly Clarkson, co-founder of Big Mouth Theatre, said “We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for such an award. It’s wonderful to come to work and watch the children grow and progress, not only with their acting skills, but with their confidence and personal development too.”

The winners will be announced at a live award ceremony on Friday, June 19 at Drayton Manor Hotel. Everyone who votes will also be in with a chance to win two VIP tickets to the awards ceremony, and meet the finalists, sponsors and VIP guests.

To vote for Big Mouth Theatre, all you have to do is go to whatson4littleones.co.uk, click on awards and vote for them in the category Best local activity for children aged 5-12.

Voting closes on Friday.
