AWARD-WINNING indie band Alt-J has announced a date in Bournemouth later this year. The band will be embarking on their first full UK tour in support of their acclaimed, number one album This Is All Yours, which includes a date at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) on Tuesday, December 1.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, September 3 from 9am. After forming in 2007, the quartet has continuously impressed after their debut album, An Awesome Wave won the 2012 Mercury Music Prize.

Last year, they released This Is All Yours, which debuted at number one on the UK’s Official Albums Chart and was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards. The album also hit number four on the US Billboard 200 upon release and has sold in excess of half a million copies, going gold in the UK, and racking up more than 214 million streams on Spotify.

The south coast show will also be a homecoming of sorts for Southampton born band member Joe Newman.

The band, renowned for their experimental approach to pop music have recently sold out an O2 Arena show and headline slots at Latitude Festival, amongst others.

This Is All Yours, the band’s second LP, and the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning debut An Awesome Wave, spawned the singles Hunger Of The Pine, Left Hand Free and Every Other Freckle.

Meanwhile, Alt-J recently responded to recent criticism from Noel Gallagher, stating that being insulted by the singer is “a rite of passage” and a sign that “they’ve made it”.

In an interview, Gallagher admitted that he is a fan of the Alt-J song ‘Left Hand Free’ but that he dislikes the band. “Alt-J can f*** right off as far as I’m concerned. It’s a great tune, and I paid 79 pence for it, but I am in no way a fan of Alt-J.” he said. Focusing in on what annoys him about the band the most, he added: “One of them’s got a moustache, and that’s unacceptable.”
