THE premiere performance of New Dimensions’ latest music commission Songs for Wild Horses has taken place at the Countryside Education Trust’s Treehouses at Beaulieu.
More than 30 local musicians joined Norwegian folk musicians, Nils Økland and Øyvind Skarbø for a performance which led the audience through a series of magical spaces as they experienced the new suite of music.
Nils and Øyvind, acclaimed musicians in their own right, had been working with the local musicians through a series of workshops and events since March, sharing Norwegian folk songs and lullabies.
New Dimensions was delighted to engage their skills as composers, improvisers and performers for this project.
Songs for Wild Horses is one of a series of projects being delivered by New Dimensions, a partnership between Anvil Arts, Basingstoke and Turner Sims, Southampton which aims to find new ways of engaging people in music.
