MUSHNIK’S Flower Shop is on Skid Row, in more ways than one. On the day that owner (Jonathan Underhill) decides to close it, his down-trodden assistant Seymour attracts considerable customer interest with a strange plant that has a man-sized appetite.

Teddy Clements (Seymour) and Emily Ruos (co-worker Audrey) were both very comfortable in their leading roles but Daniel Ferrett’s wonderfully over-the-top acting stole several scenes as a variety of characters, none more hilarious than as maniac dentist Orin.

Eliza Joy, Josephine Ssemuyaba and Stephanie McEvoy contributed lively song and dance and Josh Pellegrini combined impressively with Callum English in portraying the plant.

The directorial triumvirate of Jeff Witcher, Christina Finn (Choreography) and Sam Dando (Music) delivered a top-notch show that fully deserved the audience’s endorsement.

Any regular theatre-goers put off by the title were the losers here. The show was extremely funny, especially when well-produced, as it was here. Shame if you missed it!
