SCI-Fi and comic book fans are in for a treat as unique artwork from Star Wars and Marvel goes on display

Washington Green, one of the UK’s leading fine art publishers, is releasing six Star Wars Marvel comic book covers as the Star Wars Battlefront game was released yesterday, and the much anticipated seventh Star Wars film - The Force Awakens - coming next month.

Marvel’s “Star Wars”, was the first official comic book adaptation of the series, first published in 1977.

The limited edition was produced in collaboration with Marvel’s fine art publisher, Choice Fine Art and Acme Archives and will pay tribute to some of the most memorable characters such as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

It will be available for purchase at Canvas Gallery in Winchester.

Chris Mabire, owner of Canvas Gallery, said: “Marvel and Star Wars are two iconic brands which have individually had a huge impact on today’s popular culture. This collection of iconic comic book covers celebrates one of the most famous film franchises of all time and encapsulates the battle between good and evil which both Star Wars and Marvel are recognised for.

Daily Echo:

Each cover piece is hand signed by Stan Lee, comic book writer and former chairman of Marvel comics. After the success of the first Star Wars film Stan Lee joined forces with George Lukas to produce Star Wars Marvel that is expected to “fly off the shelves.”

Mr Mabire added: “It will appeal to both art collectors and fans of Star Wars alike – giving people a chance to own their own piece of comic book history.”

With film experts predicting The Force Awakens will exceed all previous global box-office openings, generating in the region of $615m worldwide, the popularity of the Star Wars franchise – and demand for Star Wars products – continues to grow.
