ROCK 'n' roll is in their blood with rock stars for parents.

But they're still nervous at the prospect of playing a sold out Southampton stadium this weekend.

Rod Stewart is supported by Nashville duo The Sisterhood during his Ageas Bowl date on Friday.

And Ruby, his daughter with former model Kelly Emberg, and Alyssa Bonagura, who is the daughter of Kathie Baillie of Baillie & The Boys fame, can't wait.

"We've been playing all around the world, but every show has been like a rehearsal to get ready for these stadium shows," says Ruby.

"We are so excited! My Dad is like a King in Scotland and really popular throughout the UK so I imagine it will be nuts!"

It is down to rock legend Rod that the band was first formed. The pair met through friends at an Aerosmith gig and instantly clicked.

"It felt like we had known each other for years. We became friends and just thought we'd write a song together. In 20 minutes we had our first song and we thought let's keep doing this!"

"We were in Vegas at her Dad's suite after a show playing Joni Mitchell," Alyssa takes up the story. "And Rod said you guys should really think about starting a band. So we did! We'd been doing our solo careers, but now we're trying really hard to make this happen. Since we've come together, amazing things seem to happen to us.

"We both grew up on tours. It's so funny. We didn't realise how much we had in common. Mum used to bring me on to her set and that's how I got into music. We both have really supportive parents and they give great advice as they've been there and seen it all. We've both been really inspired by our parents."

Ruby, 28, who grew up in Los Angeles and now lives in Nashville, is no stranger to life on the road after a childhood spent touring the world with her football mad Dad at the peak of his fame.

She added: "We'd play football with the roadies and they all became like family. They are fantastic memories. It was like having a second family in a way and we'd always play pranks on everyone like hiding peanuts in their shoes or taking lightbulbs out of the dressing rooms. We just made it our playground.

"We grew up on planes really and we'd run down the tarmac kicking a ball backwards and forwards. We did that with Alyssa in Vegas and she lost the ball! She's horrible at football!"

The Sisterhood will play a cover version of Rod Stewart hit Gasoline Alley as part of their set as a thank you for asking them to support him.

They will perform six songs and promise soulful two part harmonies.

Rod Stewart's Hits Tour is the biggest UK tour in years for one of the most successful and enduring musicians of all time with hits including Da Ya Think I'm Sexy, Maggie May and Sailing.

In a career spanning more than five decades, he has amassed sales of more than 200 million albums and singles worldwide.

Throughout his career Rod's garnered two inductions into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, won a Grammy, the ASCAP Founders Award for songwriting, and in 2007 was bestowed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen.

His latest album Another Country was released in 2015.
