EASTLEIGH Film Festival is back, and it’s bigger than ever before with 16 films from seven decades across six days.

Curated by The Point and now in its third year, the annual event is brimming with movie-going nostalgia.

With inventive site-specific screenings in which audience participation and fancy dress is wholeheartedly encouraged, and afternoon showings of classic films, starring some of the UK’s biggest acting talents, plus a trilogy that has attained cult status through its referencing of a particular ice cream. Eastleigh Film Festival has an inimitable line-up of classic titles and you’re invited to enjoy them all over again!

Following another successful year of film fun in 2015, Eastleigh will be transformed into a bustling centre for cult cinema screenings like never before.

This year Eastleigh Film Festival presents cinematic classics at The Point such as Brighton Rock and Dracula alongside large-scale site-specific screenings of The Blair Witch Project and Airplane.

Following brilliant audience reviews from last year’s festival, Mini Screenings return to the Town Centre with titles such as Big, 127 Hours and Shaun of the Dead.

Festival director Dan Hill said: “This year marks the third Eastleigh Film Festival and what a festival we have in store. With great films handpicked to put the joy back into going to the talkies, from a cult comedy to a genre defining horror and everything in between, there really is something for everyone.

“By working with local businesses and organisations I am incredibly excited to bring film to life for Eastleigh in a fun and exciting way.”

This year there are lots of opportunities to get involved too. With an inspiring Careers and Industry Day curated by Film Expo South that sees innovative workshops and panel talks from experts, The Point will also welcome celebrated emerging director Neil Mcenery-West as he introduces his acclaimed independent film Containment. Have a question for Neil? Come along and hear how he made his low-budget flick.

This year also ushers in the first 24-hour Short Film Challenge where budding filmmakers are encouraged to write, shoot and edit a short film and enter it into a competition.

Have your say: Eastleigh Film Festival invites you to vote for one of three seminal British movies, selected by Guardian Film Critic Danny Leigh. Your vote really does count, as only one will be screened at the Opening Gala Night, hosted by Danny, on Monday September 26.

The event runs until October 1.
