ANTONY Penrose will be at The Spring on Thursday July 7 to talk about his mother, Lee Miller - one of the most important war photographers of the 20th Century.

During the Second World War she captured images that provide important reflections on the role of women in that conflict.

From haute couture fashion in London’s bombed-out streets for Vogue, the work of women’s groups such as the WRENS, the Land Girls and nurses, to women in slave labour, prostitution and concentration camps, her photos explored the multitude of experiences of women in wartime.

In the same year as the Imperial War Museum host a major retrospective of Lee Miller’s work, The Spring are delighted to welcome Antony Penrose to discuss his mother’s photographs and her life as an artist, model and war photographer.
