DEBRA Stephenson, the star of BBC's Dead Ringers & The Impressions Show, ITV's Newzoids, Coronation Street and Bad Girls, will take to the stage for an evening of Big Band standards with the Swing Unlimited Big Band for their concert, A Night at the Movies, at the Regent in Christchurch tonight and tomorrow.

Together they will be presenting the best in big band swing from the silver screen together with a rich blend of movie theme tunes and numbers from the big movie musicals.

Dorset’s premier big band, the Swing Unlimited Big Band, return with their hit show featuring some of the greatest film music of all time. Highlights include Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, James Bond, Disney themes and many more, all performed by this superb 20-piece big band orchestra and singers.

In 1986, at the age of 14, Debra Stephenson appeared on BBC TV's Opportunity Knocks, winning her way through to the All-Winners' Final with her impressions. She then appeared on Blue Peter doing an impression of Esther Rantzen before finding further fame as a backing singer on Chris Jarvis's 1997 charity single Glasses.

Debra took part in Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, a singing competition involving celebrities, to raise money for charity, and finished fifth. Among her performances was a rendition of Cry Me a River and of Dionne Warwick's Anyone Who Had a Heart. Her participation on the show led to a recording contract and she released her debut album, In the Sunshine, which included cover versions of the songs she sang on the show.

Debra took part in Let's Dance for Sport Relief and reached the final after a rendition of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal. She was also a contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
