FRAUD, bigamy and attempted murder mark the start of Theatre Royal Winchester’s autumn season of drama.

Inspired by the work of the Victorian novelist Anthony Trollope, Lady Anna: All At Sea plays from Monday 19 to Wednesday 20 September.

No-one creates better characters and plots than Anthony Trollope and none are finer than in Lady Anna, the story of a young woman willing to risk all for love.

The dramatic and witty play, commissioned by the Trollope Society and written by Craig Baxter, finds Trollope writing the novel while sailing to Australia. As his tale of rebellion and social politics develops, both Lady Anna and Trollope find themselves facing some very difficult decisions.

Trollope’s other great works include The Chronicles of Barsetshire, The Palliser Novels, The Way We Live Now and Doctor Thorne, dramatised for TV earlier this year.

The Theatre Royal’s drama season continues with the B-movie spoof Escape From The Planet Of The Day That Time Forgot on 23 September, Michael Morpurgo’s World War Two story An Elephant in The Garden on 27 and 28 September and The Season Ticket, a poignant comedy about love and hope in a time of hardship, from 20 to 22 October.

The season also features a strand of cutting edge drama with Blind Man’s Song (4 October), Wot? No Fish!! (4 November) and Manpower (20 November).

Lady Anna: All At Sea performs at Theatre Royal Winchester from Monday 19 September until Wednesday 21 September at 7.30pm with a matinee on Wednesday at 1.30pm. Tickets are £24.00 available from theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk and on 01962 840 440. The visit sponsored by Marketing Sciences.
