It's a chance to see an iconic Southampton building in a new light.

Lighten Up II will transform the Guildhall into a giant canvas illuminated by extraordinary live projections from 7pm tonight.

Hailed as an ‘ambitious live art experience,’ artists Andree Stan, Joe Ross and Alice Scott-Hawkins will paint the Guildhall in a riot of colour and dance, accompanied by live music from local youth initiative SoCo Music project and a performance by 40 youngsters from Mayflower theatre’s summer dance project.

And visitors will also have the chance to add their own vision to the show - with a chance to 'draw' on the building themselves.

Around the city there will also be a range of exhibitions, talks, and workshops for everyone to take part in.

Digital Landscape by Amy Louise Wright is a series of surprise videos shown at various sites across the city, Louise Bradley’s Gratitude will be at Weigh House and Vaults, Lankester’s Vault will open up for Jethro German’s One Tool Does It All, and K6 Gallery present Bring Your Own Beamer – for one night only, over 20 artists will project their work onto the walls of Planet Sounds on Terminus Terrace for an immersive art experience.

And to top it all off there will be free embroidery, sculpture and silver-smithing workshops from the artists at The Arches studio complex.
