IT'S the same stage that helped launch the careers of comedy greats including Michael McIntyre, John Bishop, Rich Hall, Kevin Bridges and Simon Pegg.

The Brook is relaunching the comedy club which also played host to Ed Byrne, Reginald D Hunter, Mitch Benn, Milton Jones, Ronny Ancona and Hal Cruttenden.

Three cutting edge acts will perform in a cabaret style room on the third Sunday of each month.

First up, on Sunday, are new stars Iain Stirling, Steve Bugeja and Alex Smith.

A well-known face on television, Iain is also the recognisable, cheeky voice of Love Island (ITV2) which is now in its second series, adding to a list of multiple credits including: performing on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and Drunk History (Comedy Central), as well as hosting his own Scottish BAFTA nominated (best children’s show) panel show The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC).

Iain burst onto the comedy scene whilst studying for a Law degree at Edinburgh University, reaching the finals of both the Paramount Funniest Student competition (2009), and the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year competition (2009) and has since performed four consecutive sold out and acclaimed shows, Happy To Be The Clown? (2012), Iain Stirling At Home (2013) and Everything (2014), Touchy Feely (2015), Onwards! (2016) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Steve Bugeja was crowned the 2013 BBC Radio New Comedy Award winner. His 2015 debut solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe Day Release was met with rave reviews and enjoyed a successful run at the Soho Theatre in 2016. He followed this up in 2016 with an equally critically acclaimed Edinburgh show entitled Unpronounceable.

Steve has appeared as a guest stand up on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) and on Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). He wrote and performed in his own sketch 10 Things You Should Know As An Adult for BBC3 and starred in a viral comedy video for Lucozade alongside England and Spurs footballer Harry Kane.

Alex Smith’s trademark mix of laser sharp stand-up observations and cleverly crafted comedy songs have helped him rapidly emerge as one the most exciting new acts on the circuit.

In just two years he has appeared on BBC Radio 2′s New Comedy Awards and secured two guest slots on BBC3′s prestigious talent showcase, Live At The Electric hosted by Russell Kane, whom he supported during his ‘Smallness’ tour.
