AWARD-winning Hampshire filmmaker Oliver Ridge is a last-minute addition to the schedule at Film Expo South, which takes place tomorrow.

Oliver, fresh from winning the prestigious Rhode Island International Film Festival for his thriller Last Days of Summer, will take questions from the floor in a live Q+A following a screening of his film.

The film, produced by Oliver’s company, Blood Moon Creative, took the Grand Prize Award in the Best Feature Film category. The film has also won a number of awards from the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival including Best Director and Best Actor, and was nominated for an audience award at the Whistler Film Festival in Canada.

Oliver, who grew up in Romsey and is a former pupil at Embley Park School, has a production company in Los Angeles. He has already had recognition from BAFTA, having been honoured with a Newcomer Award and named as one of its top 15 rising stars in LA.

He said: “We’ve shown this film at film festivals all over North America, but there’s something really special about coming home to show it at Film Expo South. This expo is quickly becoming one of the region’s most exciting events and I’m privileged to be asked to play my part.”

Last Days of Summer stars William Fichtner, known for his roles in Prison Break and Independence Day 2, and Michael Rosebaum, who played Lex Luthor in the TV series Smallville.

It has a tense plot about a middle-aged man in a stagnant marriage whose life changes when an attractive young woman and her seemingly abusive husband move in next door.

A unique event designed to create, inspire and engage film & TV makers, Film Expo South takes place at the Ageas Bowl tomorrow.
