SHEFFIELD indie favourites Milburn will play their eagerly awaited Southampton gig next week.

The comeback kings, who reunited last year after more than seven years away, will play The Engine Rooms on Wednesday March 22.

It’s a huge coup for the 400 capacity venue and local promoter Psychedelia says the date is only one of three 2017 headline gigs announced so far.

Famous for helping kick start the renowned Sheffield sound of ten years ago with raucous songs like Well, Well, Well, Cheshire Cat Smile and Storm in a Tea Cup, the band delighted fans when they toured in September for the first time since reforming.

The Daily Echo described their last sold out show at Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms as “bouncing”. It was one which some fans had feared they would never see after lead singer and bassist Joe Carnall, his brother and singer-guitarist Louis, lead guitarist Tom Rowley and drummer Joe Green split on good terms in 2008.

When they first got back together last April they played four astonishing sold out nights at Sheffield’s O2 Academy selling an incredible 10,000 tickets.

Last year’s epic double A single Midnight Control and Forming of a Fate, show the band are full of ideas for their third studio album to be released in the summer.

In June the lads will play a landmark headline show at Don Valley Bowl in June with fellow Sheffield stars and good mates Reverend and the Makers and Manchester five-piece post punk band Cabbage.
