ONE OF Britain’s biggest talent shows will be descending on Southampton this month.

Britain’s Got Talent trawls the UK in search for the latest star, and it will be arriving at Westquay shopping centre next Monday.

Thousands of singers, dancers, comedians and various other acts will be all starting their journey to hopeful stardom when the city welcomes the show.

Westquay general manager Andy Collyer said he was excited that the winning journey could start in Southampton.

Returning for its 12th year, auditions will feature from midday until 5pm, with those with star quality to secure a place at the judges’ auditions in 2018.

Mr Collyer said: “Westquay are delighted to welcome back the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, it’s great to see all the different props people bring in, while seeing people rehearsing around the centre.

“It’s great to know that the winners journey could start here.”

The show is open to any performer of any age, with any talent.

Series producer, Charlie Irwin said: “Britain’s Got Talent 2017 was a fantastic year for talent full of variety – from runner-up Issy Simpson, one of the youngest magicians ever to audition, to the moving and inspiring Missing People Choir.

“Now, we can’t wait to see what talent your town has to offer for the 2018 series.

“Anyone can apply – there is no age limit and we are looking for all kinds of talents. So if you feel you have something special to show us, no matter what it is, then make sure you apply, you never know where it might take you.”

The visit forms part of a south coast tour over the next few weeks in search of a new future star.

Last year, hundreds turned out as producers recorded musicians for the first time, in a bid to narrow down the selection ready to pitch to producers in London.
