THEATRE Royal Winchester has announced a packed calendar of performances and events this spring.
The season opens with the world premiere of Mark Bruce Company’s dance adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth on January 31 and February 1. Dance lovers can also enjoy Ballet Theatre UK’s production A Midsummer Night’s Dream on February 20 and contemporary disabled dance company Candoco with striking double bill CounterActs on April 17.
Youngsters can find out about revolting Romans in Horrible Histories’ new show More Best of Barmy Britain (February 25 and 26) or join Peppa on a camping trip in Peppa Pig’s Adventure (March 17 and 18).
Celebrated jazz vocalist Clare Teal appears with her trio on April 14 and Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers (May 13) are a musical highlight. OperaUpClose bring Mozart’s The Magic Flute, set in the era of Trump and recessions, to the stage on February 22.
Oscar Wilde’s timeless classic The Importance of Being Earnest (March 5 to 10) stars Gwen Taylor as Lady Bracknell and Olivier award-winning Nichola McAuliffe is Miss Havisham in Great Expectations (April 24 to 28). Phill Jupitus (April 15) is part of the comedy line-up.
