IF YOU enjoy performing Shakespeare, then this opportunity is for you.

Every summer, Titchfield Festival Theatre performs a series of Shakespearian productions in the Great Barn – a 15th century building which is situated close to Titchfield Abbey, is rich in history, in magnificent condition and provides a superb, intimate setting for our plays.

William Shakespeare lived and worked at the nearby Place House, Titchfield Abbey, so this is a fantastic chance to perform some of the Bard’s greatest plays, walking in his very footsteps from centuries before.

The Great Barn is older than the Globe Theatre in London, as well as being the third largest mediaeval barn in Europe, making this a truly inspiring place to spend your summer acting and performing with your friends and colleagues.

This year, the season runs from May 29 until September 6, with three of Shakespeare’s greatest Roman plays to entertain local audiences: Julius Caesar, Anthony & Cleopatra and Titus Andronicus before finishing the summer with another favourite, Much Ado about Nothing set in southern Italy.

Each of the plays are set in Ancient Rome and there will be plenty of togas and other costumes in evidence – as was the custom in Shakespeare’s actual productions of the time!

Kevin Fraser, Artistic Director for the Theatre says: “We are actively seeking men and women, of all ages – young and old – to join us for the 2018 Shakespearian festival. It is free to join the company and there are no script fees; the only cost is your time and commitment. This summer is an amazing opportunity to work with some talented actors in a friendly, supportive environment. The Great Barn is incredibly historic and a hugely inspiring location to perform in.”
