IT is an occasion when men are famed for forgetting to send even a card.
But one Hampshire man is pulling out all the stops for his wife on their 16th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
Kenny Deane, from Littleton in Winchester, will build a bride and groom Lego model during his hour on Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth.
Rather than send his wife a card, the 47- year-old freelance copywriter and marketing consultant decided to create a one-metre high statue from the plastic building bricks.
Bizarrely enough, he has been chosen to take his place on the plinth exactly 16 years – to the hour – since he married Lesley.
They tied the knot in Hertfordshire at 2.30pm on September 19, 1993.
The 47-year-old will appear on Anthony’s Gormley’s plinth from 2pm to 3pm. “It’s amazing – I couldn’t believe it,” said Mr Deane of the remarkable coincidence.
Mr Deane, of Main Road, will take his wife and children – Henry Beaufort pupils Lauren, 15 and Mason, 13 – up to London with him.
He added: “It just fits so well and it’s a nice way of thanking my wife publicly for the last 16 years.”
