FUNNY, touching and uplifting, it’s every Take That fan’s dream come true.
Never Forget, the hit musical with the songs of the world’s most famous man band, opens at the Mayflower on Monday starring Philip Olivier as former stripper turned songster Dirty Harry.
The actor, best known for his role of Timothy O’Leary in Brookside, told Scene South: “Five of us guys get together and form a Take That tribute band. There’s some great characters and I love Dirty Harry even though he’s not the sharpest tool in the box.
“The sets, choreography and songs are great and you get everything from the early ’90s like Pray and Could It Be Magic. Plus it’s funny, so it ticks all the boxes.
“I’ve always liked the band. It wasn’t cool to be a Take That fan as a lad at the age I was, but they’re now cool aren’t they, so I’m loving it!
“I like doing stage stuff. It’s great fun, you can do a lot with the character and you get an instant reaction from the audience about what works and what doesn’t work.”
Philip won reality show The Games and his most recent TV appearance was on Celebrity Come Dine With Me.
