Dancewise Studios High 5 showcase marked five years since the school opened. But it also marked the day when a ballet, tap, Irish and modern dance school from Holbury wowed audiences at The Waterside Theatre.
With a new take on performance and an awards ceremony to boot it provided a chance to appreciate the achievements of the dance company over the last five years. Inbetween awards, Dancewise Studios did what they do best – Irish style dancing to the likes of C’est La Vie and a Dancers Tale and ballet to Swan Lake and Annie. The Greek dance – learnt in a matter of weeks – was a surprise but performed to West End standards. But the highlight of the show for me was Funks Incorporated – a collaboration of the boys’ class and higher grade tap, performed in boiler suits and with sticks and steel props to We Will Rock You. All the dances were performed with such precision, it was impeccable to watch. Here’s to the next five years!
