A PERFORMING arts academy based in Horndean took to the stage in Fareham last weekend for their annual dance show.
Southern Arts Academy lit up the stage at Ferneham Hall for Showcase 2010, a collaboration of tap, ballet, modern, hip hop and singing.
From Act 1, with its slick video of rehearsals, to the opening dance with perfomers dressed in traditional Irish green dresses, I was hooked.
The song choices were excellent and the younger dancers had fabulous technique for their age.
Highlights included a fluid and free modern dance by the seniors to Beyonce’s Halo and a rendition of Lady Gaga’s Telephone – complete with red phone boxes and a male dancer in a wig and Gaga costume.
The final showpiece Boogie Wonderland summed up the ethos of the school. For more information, email katrina@southernarts.co.uk
