HAMPSHIRE beauty Laura Michelle Kelly, left, has stepped out on to the red carpet at Cannes to promote her first lead movie role.

The musical star was joined by singer Ronan Keating at the French Riviera film festival. The pair are the stars of the forthcoming Australian film, Goddess.

Laura Michelle stars as a young housewife who follows an unexpected path to stardom and fortune and ends up facing a difficult choice between fame or family.

The actress and singer who grew up in Totton and on the Isle of Wight, is one of Britain’s brightest theatre talents. Laura Michelle shot to fame as Mary Poppins in the West End musical. Her portrayal of the magical singing nanny won a Laurence Olivier Award.

Her extensive West End musical credits also include Beauty and the Beast, Whistle Down The Wind, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia!, My Fair Lady and Fiddler on the Roof.

She previously appeared alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton’s Golden Globe-winning Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. She appeared as Todd’s wife Lucy Barker.

Laura Michelle has also released an music album and guested for Jools Holland on tour.
