THIS summer it could be your time to step into the spotlight with a series of masterclasses and workshops at The Mayflower theatre, led by top West End professionals.

The Southampton theatre has expanded its summer school to offer even more classes.

The English National Ballet will be among those leading sessions focused on acting, musical theatre and dance.

The Mayflower Summer School is part of the theatre’s educational programme.

There will be a masterclass focusing on a selection of acting techniques found in Blood Brothers. Attendees will end the session by working on a musical theatre ensemble piece.

Acting Through Song encourages participants to draw on emotions to bring a truthful, emotive and engaging character that continues seamlessly from text into the song.

You can put your singing, acting and dancing to the test at a workshop as you recreate hit numbers from the hit musical Mamma Mia! including Waterloo, Mamma Mia! and Voulez Vous. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced performer, there will be something for everyone in this one-off masterclass.

The English National Ballet has created a series of workshops for a variety of ages and abilities. These are a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the best ballet dancers and choreographers in the business.

Children aged seven to 11 can spend two exciting days exploring the factory and characters from Roald Dahl’s much loved novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory through physical theatre and character work, with a short presentation to parents and friends.

A two-day Writing and Performance workshop will culminate in readings on stage at the theatre. Through writing games and exercises participants will have the opportunity to develop a short script over the course of two days.

Professional magician, mindreader and illusion designer Neil Kelso hosts a Street Magic Workshop.

And Streetdance is a two-day workshop for nine to 16-yearolds culminating in a short presentation to parents.
