ONE of Winchester Hat Fair’s largest attractions is the latest event to fall foul of the weather.

Waterlitz, a spectacular acrobatics, music and pyrotechnics show due to take place on Saturday night, has been called off.

Organisers have announced in the last few minutes that they took the decision on safety grounds due to the waterlogged state of the site and more rain forecast.

They are still promising three days of thrilling, quirky and colourful acts – but no giant 60ft tower of shipping containers.

The same piece of street theatre, by French company Generik Vapeur, went ahead to an audience of thousands in Southampton just weeks ago, after being initially postponed due to high winds.
