Parkewood Youth Dance triumphed in the senior category
THERE was more to dance than fancy moves at a competition in Winchester.
Youngsters from schools across the region explored the work of the Red Cross during the “Dance: Make your Move” finale.
The theme of the competition was using dance to overcome cultural, social and physical barriers.
Eight schools, dance schools and youth groups in the area had made the final.
The topics which inspired the routines included the London 7/7 bombings, the current crisis in Syria, the Japanese tsunami and the 2010 floods in Pakistan.
Anton Junior School from Andover, which won the junior category and the Parkewood Youth Dance Company from Eastleigh, which won the senior category, are now set to go on to the national final at the O2 in London.
