MUSIC lovers are to celebrate the life of Mr Joiners, five years after his death.

Mint Burston, pictured, was responsible for turning The Joiners Arms from a backstreet Southampton pub into one of the most important venues on the UK gig circuit, vital in the early careers of Radiohead, Oasis, Muse and Coldplay.

His old stomping ground will be the venue for a commemoration gig on Saturday, November 17 – and organisers are looking for bands to get involved.

The all day gig, which will include some former bands reforming, will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
