IT’S raining. It must be Isle of Wight Festival weekend.

But I’m assured the sun will get its hat on today as tens of thousands of pairs of wellies and flip flops clamber onboard various modes of transport to make their way across the Solent.

Bleary eyed campers who made the journey early are emerging from their tents this morning after enjoying campers only sets from Jaguar Skills and Ms Dynamite in the Dance Tent and Happy Mondays and The Farm in The Big Top.

There’s a definite buzz in the air as roadies put the finishing technical touches to the Main Stage.

But, for some, the jury’s still out on this year’s three headliners.

Festival-goers have come to expect big things after incredible sets from The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Pink, Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen, to name a few.

Personally, I’ve learnt to trust John Giddings and his team who put the line-up together. They rarely get it wrong.

Bon Jovi have come in for some criticism as a cheesy throwback. But, having seen them live on half a dozen or so occasions, there are few acts who can match their energy – or set list.

How many bands can rock a three hour set of their own songs? I think revellers will be pleasantly surprised.

I’m also excited to see, for the first time, tonight’s headliners The Stone Roses. Anyone dubious about their reformation only needs to watch the documentary Made of Stone which charts their astonishing comeback last year. As filmmaker Shane Meadows put it – how four men can achieve that level of bliss from a microphone, two guitars and a set of drums is unbelievable.

As for The Killers, Mr Brightside to 50,000? Yes please.

I have no doubt they’ll all be happy campers by the end of the weekend – come rain or shine.
