IT was a literary sensation that I wanted no part of.

After enduring the dross that was Fifty Shades of Grey from my sun lounger while on holiday last summer, along with what seemed like every other woman in Malaysia, I vowed not to indulge in the rest of the dreadful series of books – or watch the film.

Not only is Christian Grey utterly dislikeable, but, to be honest, the book is terrible and the repetitive sex scenes became a bit of a bore after a while.

But, fear not, things are looking up.

Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming flick.

He’s an ex-Calvin Klein model, who is also rather a good actor.

This is the man who played devoted husband and father turned psycho serial killer Paul Spector in TV drama The Fall.

He was a seemingly caring counsellor who would kiss his wife and kids good night before going out to stalk and kill his victims in the most gruesome manner. Oh and then he stuck photographic evidence into a scrap book kept in his daughter’s bedroom while escaping into arms of a dressed up mannequin in a rural bolthole every now and again.

Hardly the most attractive sounding character, but he was hot. And a legion of female fans are sure to be rejoicing at this latest casting.

After all, if he could make a serial killer sexy surely he can do the same for a manipulative, masochist millionaire.

Here’s hoping.
