JUST as the wonderful Tom Hanks is doing his best to save the silver screen, those pesky filmmakers are coming up with ever more ridiculous ideas.

Pirate thriller Captain Phillips and Mary Poppins biography Saving Mr Banks see surely the greatest actor of our generation in fine form. But I wouldn’t bother with some of the other scripts they’re dreaming up.

In fact, the future of cinema looks rather worrying – it’s gone all reality on us.

This dross has already taken over our television screens, so please not the silver screen as well.

But following the release of One Chance, the surprisingly well-received biopic of Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, X-Factor’s biggest star Susan Boyle will now be immortalised on film as well.

It’s hardly a shock I suppose, both are down on their luck every day people who dared to dream and finally made it big thanks to their talents.

I can see those are perfect Hollywood cinematic scripts, but please let’s leave it at that rather than opening the floodgates to contestants from the Big Brother house and TOWIE.

What next The Jedward Story? Chico Time – the Movie?

Preston and Chantelle – the Love Story?

It doesn’t bear thinking about.
