IT’S the time of year when TV repeats are not just tolerated, they’re positively encouraged.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas if Hugh Grant wasn’t caught snogging Martine McCutcheon at the nativity, Bruce Willis didn’t get caught up in another siege, but still managed to get his family home for festive fun or Macauley Culkin didn’t take on the entire criminal fraternity of the United States.

In our house, it’s all about Pele’s bicycle kick and whether we’ll laugh so hard we float to the ceiling a la Mary Poppins. But actually, there’s a lot more to the Christmas TV schedule this year.

I’ve circled a few new gems on the box, although all my picks seem to be aimed at the younger market.

I can’t wait for David Attenborough’s new 3D documentary breathing life into the creatures of the Natural History Museum and if the latest David Walliams adaptation about a young boy who discovers his cabbageeating Gran isn’t quite what she seems is anything like as good as last year’s offering, we’re in for a treat.

And if that’s not enough, Harry Potter is ready to battle he who must not be named in the fifth instalment, we’re reacquainted with Woody and Buzz Lightyear all three times and one very special clown fish will be enjoying his adventures on the high seas.

But that’s what it’s all about I suppose – time to unleash your inner child. Wishing all our readers a very Happy Christmas.
