FRANKLY I will be glad when Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) is over.

Talent show fever does seem to have rather swept the nation and it is hard not to get caught up in it – even if you don’t watch the daily instalments.

It had looked like a one horse race in the BGT stakes this year, what with Susan Boyle’s incredible audition, her subsequent 40 million YouTube hits and her famous fans like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.

But I wonder whether she peaked a little too early.

With all the fame and furore, viewers will just assume that she does not need their vote tomorrow night.

And Susan, who started out a sweet middle-aged woman from a village in Scotland, who was rather caught in the headlights, has not endeared herself to the British public this week with reports of her ranting at policemen and swearing at the TV.

It’s a shame that her success may well have been her downfall.

All she ever really wanted to do was sing for The Queen, but it remains to be seen whether she will get her dream come true.

Of course, there are plenty more acts to choose from as Britain’s reignited love for variety continues apace.

So get dialling…
