I’ve been reviewing Otterbourne’s summer show for a number of years and they never disappoint – in fact, if anything, they up their game year on year.
This year was no exception, with a dazzling array of costumes (Kay Warne, Samantha Oldham, Joyce Jones, Julie Whale) and a flying Mary Poppins (Holly Williams).
The best thing for me is the strong sense of family and community pride and seeing the gifted children grow and mature into talented adults (Ryan Bishop, Sarah Bishop, Holly Williams, Bethany Warne) and the next generation wow us with their professionalism and capability (Xanthe Gibbs, Louis Still, Nathan Smith).
The show offered variety in abundance, with comedy sketches, jokes, songs and dancing.
Compered by John Pitman and accompanied by the adept musical director, Richard Daniels, there was inventive lighting and well managed set and props.
I’m not sure how so much talent congregates in Otterbourne but I’m already looking forward to next year.
