FROM the outside it looks like a traditional country pub - but stepping inside the Fisher’s Pond you will be greeted by a warm welcome and a breathtaking view to enjoy over a pint.

The pub, which was a former tea room called Fisher’s Café, takes its name from the nearby lake and has been run by John and Keeley Mitchell since 2011.

The couple based their success on sticking to traditional values of running a quality venue and focuses on providing great customer services.

John, who is 53-year-old and has been running pubs since he was 18 years old, said: “We want to keep the atmosphere as relaxing as possible with candles and a stunning view and we want to make people feel at home.

"We have lots of regular customers who have been coming here for many years and still come to celebrate their special moments such as birthdays and anniversaries.”

John said that roast and fish and chips are the best sellers along with drinks such as Peroni, Estrella and prosecco.

The couple is currently working on a new menu set to be launched in the next two weeks which aims to offer more options for vegetarians and vegans.

“This is a family pub and we want to welcome everyone," said John.

"We have a children's menu too which includes pizza, pasta and roast along with other traditional dishes such as sausages, salmon and fish and chips and we also provide biscuits for dogs, since they are part of families nowadays,” he added.

Along with food, the lake is the main attraction for clients, especially in summer time and John and Keeley are now planning to run more outside events for next summer.

“We do not need to do much because what people like the most about here is the relaxing atmosphere and the view,” said John.

"Once we had a live music event and people didn’t like it."

John said that he and Keeley are proud of what they have achieved so far and said that passion is their secret.

“The team here cares about every single client and every single thing we do,” he added.

The pub, which is open 365 days a year, will open its garden on March 15 and will offer a special menu for Valentine’s Day from February 11 to 18.
