MORECAMBE

TIM Whitnall’s Olivier Award-winning West End play, Morecambe comes to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Directed by Paul Hendy and starring Olivier-nominated Bob Golding as Eric Morecambe the show is a moving, often hilarious tale about one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers: from humble beginnings in Music Hall to 28 million viewers on Christmas Day, it’s the heart-warming, tear-jerking, laughter-inducing story of the man what brought us the sunshine.

2014 marks the 30th anniversary of Eric Morecambe’s death and yet his comedy remains as popular as ever.

SHANE KOYCZAN

THERE’S a rare opportunity to see a world performance poet at Apples and Snakes’ 451, at The Nuffield tomorrow, in the shape of Shane Koyczan.

Koyczan has been both Canadian Olympic Poetry Slam Champion and US National Poetry Slam Champion.

He has graced stages worldwide with his engaging, entrancing and uplifting poetry and was selected to perform live as a centrepiece of the Canadian Winter Olympics opening ceremony in 2010.

Shane’s anti-bullying poem, To This Day has gone viral with over 12 million views. He delivers powerful moving poetry that connects directly to the heart and this is an opportunity to find out how moving performance poetry can really be as Shane appears in Southampton on one of only five performances in the UK this year.

Shane is supported by local poet Angela Louise Chicken who won the audience vote at Archimedes Screw showcase at the Art House in March and writes about life and living in Southampton.
