THE Berry Theatre at Hedge End has announced its spring season including live-streamed performances and stage productions.

The theatre has recently had satellite equipment installed, which enables it to screen live theatre directly from the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.

As part of the National Theatre Live season star of The Kumars and Goodness Gracious Me, Meera Syal, takes centre stage with Behind the Beautiful Forever, on March 12. Pulizter prize-winner Katherine Boo spent three years in Annawadi recording the lives of its residents, and David Hare has fashioned the play on an epic scale featuring the comedienne.

The final National Theatre Live production at the Berry is Tom Stoppard’s The Hard Problem, on April 16.

Two productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company will be live-streamed from Stratford. The first transports the audience back to the summer of 1914 for Love’s Labour’s Lost on February 11.

In order to dedicate themselves to a life of study, the King and his friends take an oath to avoid the company of women for three years.

No sooner have they made their pledge than the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting them with a severe test of resolve. It is followed by Love’s Labour’s Won on March 4.

There is plenty for little ones in the spring season, starting with a stage version of Monty Python’s Terry Jones’ children’s book Nicobobinus on February 7.

Nicobobinus and his best friend Rosie embark on a wild adventure to cure him of a golden curse.

A mischievous cat will bring his tall, red and white hat to the stage on February 28, with The Cat in the Hat, and another classic, James and the Giant Peach, is on April 10.

The Reduced Shakespeare Company will bring something for the adults with the rib-tickling The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) on March 6.
