THE spectacular rock ‘n’ roll variety show That’ll Be the Day rolls into Basingstoke tomorrow night.

Continually touring and packing out theatres where ever it goes, this extraordinary show has already clocked up 29 years on the road.

Daily Echo:

Given a slick rewrite every year it brings audiences back time after time – with some having watched it many times over. The feel-good music and the fun always prove utterly infectious.

The formula is a clever mix of happy pop songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s combined with saucy, yet safe, end-of-the-pier humour (no gratuitous swearing), underpinned by nostalgic overhead projections.

The five-piece live backing band are multi-talented musicians and vocalists; the front five performers are compelling entertainers at the peak of their powers.

The show’s pace is quick and slick with lots of tight medleys and there is forensic attention to authentic detail with costumes and wigs so that ten performers seem like many more.

After a three week break the cast went back on the road this week to start the next |11-month tour which will once again include dates in Southampton and Bournemouth.

Even the snow in Buxton, where it was all hands on deck to sweep up the snow outside the town’s Opera House, failed to dampen their spirits.

That’ll Be the Day plays The Anvil, Basingstoke on Saturday January 31. Tickets: 01256 844244.
