WITH a change of personnel at the helm and a change of venue, Footlights Youth Theatre has indicated that it is still very much in business with this lively production of the Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.

As brightly costumed as the “technicolor” of the title would suggest, and cleverly lit, this was a fine looking production.

Director David Humphries brought a fresh eye and some witty touches to this familiar tale, creating a lean but entertaining show.

The musical direction was crisp and nicely executed, although occasionally the orchestra slightly drowned the singing.

Choreographer Sarah Curtis produced some fine numbers.

Katie Steel handled the role of narrator well, whilst Giles Odling had great stage presence as Joseph.

His brother, Angus, almost stole the show giving one of the best performances of the role of Pharaoh that I have seen.
